New Policy School - the second generation
The Youth Initiative for Human Rights has the pleasure to announce the Call for Application for the second group of 60 students of the New Policy School, which sets off in October 2008.
The School is intended for young politicians, civil society activists, university students and young journalists. Our lecturers are esteemed professors from Serbia and the region, human rights activists, ambassadors with work experience in the Balkans, as well as experts in advocacy strategies. Those who wish to apply should count with the School's intensive pace: the classes are held every week, while seminars are held every third weekend.
The School duration is six months, divided in three independent parts which cover the following thematic areas:
1) Policy work – how to create active policy for the 21st century in the context of the legacy of former Yugoslavia
2) Dealing with the past – concepts and practice
3) Field work in local community through activism and advocacy
The School will be located in Belgrade, Nis and Novi Sad. In each of these cities, 20 selected candidates will hear three-hour lectures every week. In addition to this, the School includes four basic seminars focused on advocacy strategies, human rights, writing skills and one seminar in practical organizational skills.
Candidates from Vojvodina will attend the classes in Novi Sad; those from South Serbia will attend classes in Nis. Candidates form Belgrade will remain in Belgrade. The YIHR will cover travel expenses to all students coming from towns and cities other than where their School is located. Furthermore, some lectures and conferences will be held in only one of these towns, which means that the attendance to those lectures would also be obligatory to all students. YIHR will grant full stipends to some students, based on their application and interview while for some students the travel costs will not be reimbursed.
